Jeff Jones - The Update
(The classmate formerly known as Mario Jones)
Just to complicate things, I use my middle name now (I'm not Italian or
Mexican, and I got tired of the question!)
I worked for Sympathetic Software Systems and Continental Software
during my undergrad (BSEE from UC Irvine, 1985). We wrote and ported
business software between the Commodore 64, the PC, and the Apple II and Mac
platforms. I went into the real world
shortly thereafter and worked as a firmware and hardware designer, then back to
school for my MBA from Cal State Fullerton (sometimes known as Cal State
Disneyland) - the only accredited business school in Orange County at the time.
It was time for a small career change, and I went into the semiconductor
industry.
I hired in to LSI Logic in 1991 and worked in the field doing sales and
applications engineering. The company relocated me to the Bay Area in 1994. I'm
now an engineering director at LSI Logic. We live in Pleasanton. Other than the commute, I like it a lot better here. Since the economy has gone
sour, the commute is getting better too!
I've got an 8-year old son named Mitchell. My wife, Alice, and I just
celebrated our 5th anniversary (2nd marriage for both of us).
I probably won't go to the reunion. Most of the people I knew well graduated
in '80. There were a few from '82 as well. It'll be interesting to see what
happened to everyone though.
